Have you ever sat down for a first date and within five minutes thought…
“Well…this isn’t going anywhere.”
Or maybe…
“I think I actually like this person.”
People always ask if love at first sight exists. I’m not sure about that.
But I do believe in first-five-minute intuition.
It’s usually not about looks.
It’s about energy.
Did they smile when they saw you?
Were they kind to the waitress?
Did they seem interested in getting to know you—or were they rehearsing their life story?
Could you imagine spending another hour with them?
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized I don’t need fireworks.
I don’t need butterflies.
I don’t need perfection.
I just need to feel comfortable.
And if I don’t?
That’s okay too.
One of the greatest gifts of dating after 60 is knowing you don’t have to force chemistry just because someone seems nice on paper.
Sometimes the answer is no.
Sometimes the answer is maybe.
And every once in a while…
Five minutes in, you’re already hoping the coffee lasts a little longer.
Question for readers:
Have you ever known within the first five minutes whether there would—or wouldn’t—be a second date? Tell me your story!
